Hedgehog
We compromise by speaking in movie-German accents and saying "Alles Klar" when we visit their Teamspeak server. Don't forget "Ze fallen madonna vith ze big boobies."
frankiekam
Hi GibsonHow do I add an avatar to my username in this forum?FrankieScratch that. I just stumbled onto the "User CP" section. The more I know about SB, the more I know how little I know about SB and all its nuances.
frankiekam
I just finished my very first multiplayer session with "Dogs of War" with Asid (Scotland) and Renders (Italy). Man, after 2 hours, am I stoked!
frankiekam
My brief experience of playing SB multiplayer for the very FIRST time. After an initiation and introduction to the game by Asi, the game got underway. The TeamSpeak experience was great! It felt as though Asid and Renders were sitting next to me in my home, playing SBProPE together. I played as the Gunner mostly scanning left and right, aided by Renders who barked out his orders. We took out a couple of bogies, erm..enemy units along the way. Fired them. Then my wingman, erm...teammate (Asid) got hit by an unknown source. From that moment on, it was like the drizzling sniper scene in Saving Private Ryan. You could have sliced the tension with a knife because my Commander and I couldn't spot the enemy. We knew he was somewhere hidden but the he didn't show up on the TIS. Then my tank got hit and it was all over! Tank destroyed. Priceless memories. I've had a change of perspective. SBProPE is no longer over-priced to me. Thanks to the added-value of muliplayer experience, it's priceless.

frankiekam
Today I went through the Tutorials 1 to 15 for the M1A1. All in one stretch. Unfortunately for me, Tutorials 16, 17 and 18 were very tough going (Tank Commader) and very complicated. Too much information, leading to information overload. I think 15 tutorials at a go is enough for me for now. TC tutorials, I consider as advanced tutorials. Not to be attempted for the weak-of-heart. As far as learning the tutorials, I will live to 'fight' (learn) another day, then.
Toyguy
I've found it most effective to learn only a couple of the tutorial sessions at a time, then practice them on the range until they feel solid. Then I go on with the next batch. That really helps, for me at least, on the really complex vehicles. Also be sure to look in the SB Docs folder on your hard drive for the tutorial PDFs. Those are good reading. Mark Gibson also has a set of guides in the download area of the web site that he wrote on topics like breaching obstacles, using the missile teams and conducting helicopter insertions that are also highly recommended. There's also a good scenario called, I think, TanksProPe, in the download section that is great for practice. It's you alone with 9 other enemy tanks roaming the map looking for you. It's great for reinforcing the lessons about staying in the low ground, tank positioning, etc. The first time you get all 9 will be truly satisfying, plus you can edit the scenario and change the tank to whichever one you want. I have one copy made up with each of the major vehicles so I can practice them.Good luck! I think I saw you pop on TeamSpeak last night during the TGIF game. Come earlier next time and join in - the more the merrier!
frankiekam
Today, my 83-year old father passed me a hard-cover book entitled "Battleground. The greatest tank duels in history. By Steven J. Zaloga. Osprey publications 2011. ISBN: 978 1 84908 551 9".Very nice read. Lots of illustrations and very readable. Fascinating stuff. Recommended reading for all armchair generals and tank warfare buffs. Last chapter is a comparison of the M1A1 Abrams and T-72 of Desert Storm. It was a totally one-sided affair.

Toyguy, Thanks for the kind words. An earlier version of these now come with the game (look for "Specialist Tutorial.pdf" in the "docs" folder). A 3.025 compliant version can be found here: http://www.steelbeasts.com/Downloads/p13_sectionid/257/p13_fileid/2641 I'd also suggest downloading GaryOwen's Camp Hornfelt training missions: http://www.steelbeasts.com/Downloads/p13_sectionid/24/p13_fileid/1858 These seven missions are M1 centric but give you an understanding of a range of tactical concepts and skills that can be used with any vehicle. Lastly when you are feeling up to it, I'd recommend Toyguy's series of 11 YouTube videos on scenario creation: Edited February 16, 2015 by Gibsonm

frankiekam
Yippee! I just received my Steel Beasts Pro PE DVD, spiral-bound Manual and Codemeter USB dongle. All arrived in one piece today (Malaysia, Wednesday 25th February 2015). It was mailed via First Class postage from the US on 12th February and it took just 13 days to arrive. My one-month license that I also purchased will expire in 15 days. So now I have one perpetual license and one license which lasts 15 days. Never mind that I purchased SBProPE before eSimGames bundled a free one-month license with the one purchase of a perpetual/classic license. It's mine. All mine.
