OldRavenNL
Hello All, New SB player from the Netherlands here. I'm a long(er) time ArmA player and playing that at a Tactical Community here in the netherlands, but like armour more. Been looking at SB for a while now (over a year) never really pressed the order button. But since I want to learn and play more with armour and at my community they don't like tanks in a co-op game.. decided it's time to finally get SB. Thanx to Sean for a 2 week demo, and thanx to Ssnake for giving me a german store to order it from. I hope to be able to play and learn from some of you if you are willing to guide me through some sort of noob armour training And if anyone here knows the best place to find European players, just let me know. Because of work the time I can spend online is limited to maybe once or twice a week in the evening. Hope my dongle arrives soon so I can continue practicing! OldRaven out!
Gibsonm
Welcome! In Europe you can go East and work with the Germans in PzBtl 911, or West and link up with UK Armour. If you want to jump in at the deep end, PzBtl 911 is running a series of missions starting at 1800 GMT on the 6th of October.More details here:http://www.steelbeasts.com/sbforums/showthread.php?t=16906 Edited October 5, 2012 by Gibsonm
Tjay
Welcome to the Steel Beasts community. Mark G has been kind enough to mention UK Armour. Despite the name we are not exclusively UK focused. Anyone for whom the GMT time zone is convenient is very welcome. We currently have members stretching from the East Coast of the US, through Ireland, to Scandinavia, with a wide range of experience and expertise. We gather at 20:00 local (GMT in the winter, GMT + 1 in summertime) on Wednesdays and Sundays. Wednesdays are usually dedicated to training; Sundays to 'playing'. One of our members also runs a session at 21:00 local on Mondays for fans of Soviet equipment. Do come and join us in the UK Armour section of the Steel Beasts Teamspeak server at those times. You will be made most welcome.

OldRavenNL
Hi Guys, Thanx for the welcome! I stumbled across UK Armour and PzBtl 911 already ;P Training on wednesday and playing on sunday sounds good! I love to come take a look around as soon as I have my dongle Tjay. On sunday I also ususally have a team meeting.. in my spare time I'm a vehicle modeler/rigger working on WW2 tanks .. but guess I can skipp that for SB And the reason why I can only be online at night is becaue of work and the kids etc. Home late, eat.. walk the dog.. feed the horse.. you know the drill.. before I know it .. it's already 21:30 before I can sit down behind my computer. Long night of tanks sounds amazing.. but I don't think I'm ready for that.. and 6-8 hours.. wow.. I have to watch my already rsi infected wrist Is it possible to spectate ? Really like the co-op videos on youtube.. Cheers Peter

Peter You are one hour ahead of the UK, so your 21:30 is our 20:30. So you just need to speed up a bit on the leaving work, walking the dog, feeding the horse, etc and you can make it in good time. Incidentally, Marko's Soviet Virtual Unit sessions on Monday have moved to 20:00 as well. Look forward to seeing you. But please accept my apologies in advance that these days many British people do not speak English as well as the Dutch or Scandinavians.

dave1978
Training is going well, i did a couple of scenarios with Mark who you are dealing with regarding a trial. Then i went on to create a couple of my own little scenarios with 4-6 easy targets for me to take on while i got my head around the controls. Now im waiting for a new swanky joystick to arrive with lots more buttons which should speed things up as the old one i was using only had 2 buttons.
OldRavenNL
thanx for the introduction yesterday to uk armour!great to hear the practice.. planning, communication etc.I managed to open the ports in my router.. so hopefully I'm able to join next time.Is there a way to test that before a session?Going through the tutorials now, and setting up some quick keys on my mouse.I'll see how far I can get before sunday.. if I feel up to it I love to see if I can keep my tank alive against the 911. But I'm not sure it's usefull to drop in if I cannot even get a shot out.. then pactice wednesday is the next option for me.

It should have given you a good idea as to how we operate - and a clue as to our very politically incorrect sense of humour!I'm available from midday Saturday through all of Sunday, so drop me an email (not a pm) at 'teejay@clara.co.uk' with a suitable time. Best for me would be 18:00 GMT (GMT + 2 your time) when we could check out your connection and go through some basic stuff about the weird Challenger FCS! If that goes OK, by all means join the following H2H session. I'll put you in a single tank under the wing of someone experienced and communicative - like Hedgehog. Hope to hear from you.

I'm not driving a tank without an interiour! :biggrin:I prefere getting to know the leopard 2a5, in honour that they ditched all the leopards this year in the netherlands. What's an army wihout a main battle tank? it's a shame that they took them out of service.
